Looking for other "writers" to talk with about Writing Fiction

Curious to know if there are any writers on here that are working on a project to get done this year... I'm looking to make this year my publishing year. So I'm looking for others that are focused and determined to make this year the one.
So often it's just talk talk about writing, but not enough writing, rewriting and revising.
I'm looking for others that are actually working towards getting published and have a positive attitude about it.
Writing can get lonely, so it's good to have contact with others that are climbing the same mountain.

Write on!

Need to finish up so I can get published.

Good friend of mine said she was worried about me and did a Celtic Cross reading for me since that is my favorite spread. She's been telling me I've got to get done with my writing project so I can get published. She's good...
I've been slacking on it a little, just been busy with the website, needing to get my taxes done (never fun - even when nothing's owed) and trying to figure out how I'm going to start up a workout schedule so I can start improving my health.
Sorta lost that iron when I was counting last I guess...

So the other night I went onto Writer's Cafe and started tightening up my writing and reorganizing it so that it's arranged properly. I guess that I'm going to have to start scheduling a whole lot more than my workouts if I'm going to keep everything straight.

If anyone knows of a really good PIM or PM (Personal Information Manager or Project Manager) software that might help me get organized...maybe I should get an online organizer program...or calendar desktop or something...I'm not really sure what would work for me.

I'd need to see it when I go on the computer...then I'd have to have alerts or alarms that would remind me of the time. Something I can keep a daily journal in, write up tasks and appts. Sort of an all in one sort of thing...only problem is it needs to be freeware as I can't purchase any of the fancy stuff. Maybe I should try a few programs to work together instead...don't know.

Any ideas?

Hello, My husband wrote a childrens book that has not been published yet. We found a site that creates books and he was thinking of having his story created into a book and then submit that for his manuscript to publishing companies. Is this a good way to go about sending in manuscripts or is just a typed manuscript better? Thank you for any advice or help :)

Aidpage group discussing "publishing"...

UPDATE: Before when I was on as janasdreams and jana4 I talked about publishing. I had to change my name because it was affecting my website. I want to update those who were interested in publishing. Since I spoke last about how to self publish I have had two book signings that went very well. I have had a great response to my poetry book and now have two more book signings schedule in Montana at the end of June. It takes a lot of time promoting but since I don't have the finances to hire a marketing consultant I do all of my own contacts and go where I want to go. I learned about picture copyrights. You cannot use any photos of yourself unless you took them. You have to have written permission of the photographer and anyone else in the photo. I had to do some research on this as I want to use a studio photograph of myself in my next book. I knew the studio was no longer open but I was able to get a family member to sign the release (spouse of the photographer). My sister is signing releases for any photos that my father took. So now I am covered on everything that I want to publish in the next book. IF you want to discuss publishing feel free to send me a message. I am currently working on my second book Growing Up In The Rockies. I hope it will be out in September.

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.

Regrets

We all have regrets. Things that might make us feel less than or inferior. When all the "Would of", "Should of" or "Could of's" enter our minds.

My point for this post is in hopes to get people to open up and start talking about what things if given the chance to do them over again, what would it be? I get so sick and tired of beating myself up and watching other good people do the same.

I regret so many things in life that I have done wrong. Due to my stubborn nature I have always went against the grain of great advice. And sometimes it is not my fault, it comes naturally inherited. But there is always room for changing the things that we do; that do us harm. All because of how we view ourselves.

I regret that I might have to file bankruptcy for the second time. With all of the new bills and laws that are being passed in favor of major creditors, I just gave up on being harassed for late payments. Not to mention the raised interest rate penalties, fees and  always never being able to catch up and my credit is shot. But I know that I am a good person. I work two jobs, barely making ends meet. I know now that is their job to provide a service that appears to have a silver lining. Only to ensnare you into a relationship you did not ask for. One that gets in your pockets and truly does not care anything about an individual or their circumstance.

Trust me I have many more regrets to post... But healing is far more priceless. Life's learned lessons are just that. Learned experiences.

Peace & Blessings

About Kelly30

Last Wednesday I signed the Incorporation papers for "Imaginary Sam Incorporated".  Our main focus is going to be the publishing of theraputic children's books. The first series is simply on imagination play and creativity with a recycling touch. The second is a deeper dive into childhood trauma with Helping Monsters that provide safe coping mechanisms. The third will be more along the soothing bedtime variety, but that will help parents and guardians of difficult children relax as well.

At least, that is the plan.

I am also writing the first draft of a proposal for a Therapy Center for disabled youth with the working title "Annie's Place" for the Driving Force of the Idea, Annie Foster. She is an incredible young woman living with Cerebral Palsy.  Through one of the wish granting entities that work with disabled people she has been granted an audience with Sen. Hillary Clinton and President Clinton in September and she wants to present the proposal to them during that visit.

So, no pressure there.

I am here to find support for these ventures, both Imaginary Sam and Annie's Place are ideas born out of a need to help more than I am able out of my humble kitchen. So, I am taking my healing out into the world, but boy is that expensive. Insurance alone, just in case, is a mountain of money. I am confident, and motivated, and so ready to make a helping difference in the world that I can taste it.

Trying to start minority owned business.

I have actually secured music distribution via itunes, and a book publishing digital distribution from a new start up company. I am looking for start up funds to produce media that is family oriented, encouraging, and transcendant of race, culture, or creed. I can use funding or information on how to secure funding for these ventures that I have worked on for the past 9 months to secure distribution. I can be reached at efitzgerald@wowio.com for advice or funding.
